The Everyday Ministry Podcast

A conversation for all Christians: to participate and grow in gospel work. Everyday ministry.

Marty and I started a podcast! We may be late to the game and it took me way longer than I'd like to admit to get this project off and running but I'm excited this is finally out there. I will keep this intro short because I'd rather you just jump right into listening to the first few episodes.

The idea for this podcast started as a way to engage non-readers and to encourage them to read more. We wanted to discuss specific resources we offer as a way to introduce books to the listener. After working on it for some time, the aim of the podcast has slightly shifted. Yes, we want the non-readers and readers to listen but we also want to invite you into our everyday conversations. Marty and I work together for Matthias Media and we attend the same church. So our circles of people and places overlap at times. We talk about ministry a lot and our friendship has grown since we met ten years ago. I met Marty as a newlywed when my husband and I first moved to the area. Once I started doing contracted design work for Matthias Media, these types of conversations began.

Both at work and church, I have learned so much from Marty. Our conversations are always mutually encouraging and challenging. Iron sharpens iron as the Word says. It is rare to work with someone you cherish as a friend and I'm grateful to God he's placed us in the same place and time as co-laborers for the gospel. That goes for the whole team--it is an edifying group to say the least!

Our challenge for you as you listen is to consider your own life and conversations. All Christians are called to discipleship and gospel work. We can all 'move to the right' towards maturity in Christ. We can look left and actively engage with those that have not been rescued from the domain of darkness and rescued into God's kingdom. And finally, we can dwell on Matthew 9 and Matthew 28 and remind each other that there is much work to be done (the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few) and that everyone, as part of everyday life, is called to go and make disciples.

We hope this content is helpful and useful. But most importantly we hope it brings glory to God. Please listen, please share and please give us feedback. We'd love to hear from you.

Also, the consistency in quality is not quite there. But we don't take ourselves too seriously around here and we are striving for good, not perfect (as my friend and co-worker, Laura says). So I apologize if there's anything distracting while listening.

Make much of Jesus,

Lindsey
