A Seal Upon Your Heart (Song of Solomon)
“Set me as a seal upon your heart,
as a seal upon your arm.
For love is strong as death ...” (Song of Solomon 8:6)
King Solomon infamously maintained a harem of women who turned his heart away from God, so why is the Bible’s only piece of love poetry named after him? Does the Song have anything to say to single people? And where can God be found in a book that barely alludes to his name?
The Song of Solomon presents two kinds of love—one delightful, one dangerous—and reveals the confronting reality of the nature of God’s love. These 6 studies, useful for both groups and individuals, will deepen your understanding of this mysterious part of Scripture and how it should guide you today.
Kamina Wüst studied at Queensland Theological College before attaining a PhD from Moore Theological College. She also holds university qualifications in drama and music. Her PhD thesis was entitled The Song of Songs in the Hebrew Bible: Inner-Biblical Allusions Embodied by Solomon and the Daughters of Jerusalem, exploring previously under-recognised connections between the Song and other parts of the Bible. She is regularly invited to consult for churches on teaching the Song of Songs, in addition to lecturing by invitation at theological colleges and conferences. She has worked as a freelance writer and editor since 2016, most recently publishing a set of studies on the Song in Matthias Media’s Pathway Bible Guide series. Kamina lives in Brisbane, Australia with her husband (who is also a writer).
